Home Shopping? Here’s How to Check a Home’s Plumbing Health Before You Buy

Buying a home involves many steps to get to closing:

  1. You have to find a home you like with the features you desire.
  2. You have to make an offer on the house.
  3. You need to secure financing.

Most importantly, though, you need to ensure you perform, or hire professionals, to do various types of inspections. When moving into your new home, the last thing you want is to have to deal with structural, roofing, or plumbing problems.

Checking for signs of plumbing problems is not too difficult to do. You can check most things when viewing the home. For other things, you will want to schedule a second viewing once the seller has accepted your offer and you are proceeding with the sale to do a more detailed plumbing home inspection.

Ideally, you want to check all aspects of the home’s plumbing system, including:

  • Sinks
  • Drain Lines
  • Fixtures
  • Faucets
  • Toilets
  • Spigots
  • Sewer Lines
  • Septic Tank
  • Water Heater
  • Water Main

We invite you to review the following infographic to find out more detailed information about what sort of plumbing inspections you can perform.
